Merry Christmas all! its been fun kids, and no Christmas is complete without remembering the reason for the season, and so i present John Su's Gift of Ages
pretty fancy stuff right? anywho, yesterday was pretty rockin.... me and some pals had our annual twelve hour marathon of the Lord of the Rings, (special edition) it was sheer excellence!!! i have been doing that marathon since the movies were released, so its a pretty solid tradition. (yay nerds!) tomorrow is gonna be a good day!
Everyone has a secret project. An idea that takes life deep within the cerebral soup sloshing about in the heads of whoever has life. It can be malicious, honorable, creative, or ridiculous; It can come on a whim or be long and deep. Whatever yours is, this is mine

ceramics
i took a ceramics class this semester; it was pretty cool and i wanted to share some of my pieces. most of them came out pretty craptastic, but a a couple were kinda cool.

also, i made a thing in a jar.

i gave it to a friend for birthday present. her mother promptly told me to "get that thing out of my house." it was a success.

Kirby and Yoo
december again
time is not kind to slowish types of people; school is nearly done, the holidays are upon us, money is flying out the door, and still i am not where i would like to be in life... but then, who is? anywho, Disney's Tangled came out earlier this month; it looks okay but i still have not seen it yet....

the aftermath
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one was, in on word, Brilliant. i am so pleased, and the film most certainly did not disappoint; quite a fitting "beginning of the end." now if only the final film would hurry up and get here!

I Can Not
believe that it is already November. Its' Scary how fast time flies, anyhow, today I voted (which was highly stressful)... ugh. On another note, my quest to read all of the Harry Potter books before the Deathly Hallows is released on Nov 19th is proceeding well. i stared three days ago and am already on the third book. School is continuing somewhat chaotically, and time to cram has arrived. fun. Still, the Holidays are fast approaching; oh, and this looks good.

Hehehahahoho!
Its the weekend! and with it comes the carving of pumpkins, Halloween parties, scary movies and anything else good and Halloweeny. Today me and my friends proudly bought advance tickets for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (part one) which will be premiering on the night of my birthday. Good stuff. in honor of this fantastic occasion, i have started rereading the Harry Potter books from the beginning starting last night. i am already nearly done with the first. In other news, my sick obsession with J.R.R. Tolkiens Lord of the Rings has taken a turn even farther into madness with the announcement that The Hobbit will FINALLY be made into a film to be directed by the one and only Peter Jackson. Yes, my life will soon be complete.

Second Set
Here is the second set of headphones that i did. This one is a little different and a bit more labor intensive, but in my opinion, better! the person whom i did this commission for wanted them to look steam punk; we talked for a while about how far the look should go, and this is what i ended up doing.

i started out covering the wire and soft ear-pieces with tape and plastic.

then coated the entire thing with gray primer...

the headband was something that was meant tot look like old rusted and decaying metal; i achieved this look by first painting all of the band black, letting it dry and heaping a mass of Weathered Wood Crackling Medium over the surface.

after letting that dry, i painted over the headband with bronze and gold paint, and sprayed the whole thing down with a glossy weather resistant adhesive. the result was this:

after drying, the band felt very textured and thick. IT WAS AWESOME.
now, here are the actual ear parts...
left side:

i used the same coloring technique as on the other set of headphones i did.... now here is the Right side:

and that's that!

Long Time, No See
i wanted to share some cool work that i did, (if i do say so myself) and am proud to display it here on my blog. I did some commissions and designed a couple of cool headphones...
here is the first...

the headphones are Sony MDR-XD200's, and are excellent for the cost. i got them here. This is the left side of the headphones.

started out coating them with a good coat of gray primer, i used Krylon. let it dry. started sketching the design onto the headphones.

for the color, i used a variety of things, but mostly Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens, Sharpie Paint Pens, and Bombay India Ink. Now, here is the right side, (and repeat of the process)

and here is the final product!

HOORAH!

i hope to do several things, the first of which being able to go to this... the CTN animation expo in burbank, CA. yes, that would be great; the second is something a little more on the nerdy and less professional side. i want to go see this on opening night :)

wow
its like i died or something, haha. i feel so bad about having forgotten this little patch of weeds; and to make it worse, i don't have any artistic-y things to show... huh, sad.
so here is what went down, my sad sweet little mac-book belly upped, and with it photoshop, illustrator, flash, corell painter, and sundry. Tragic? very. any-who, a friend of mine was kind enough to donate their old dell, considering their recent purchase of a new laptop, so here we are. school is back in session, and i have found myself once again at Fullerton college; its not bad, but its no university either. i have met a lot of pretty rockin people though, so no complaints there... moving on then, i hope to resume my keeping of this blog :)

good stuff
several things that i want to post. first is a series of links that are very helpful for general use one photoshop and illustrator...
This site has allot of great textures, useful for all sorts of different crap.... any-who, i have used it countless times, all you have to do is become a member.
this site is exceptional for color scheme designing. it has all sorts of different wheels to choose from and it a wonderful tool for anyone in doubt of color compliments and choice.
moving on then, i am switching schools. i am strongly considering attending Biola university, but i am still slightly on the fence about it. in other news, i have concept art that i am pleased with.... next post shall be grand :)

Happenings
it has been too long since i have said anything; admittedly, there is not much for me to say. Several ramblings on the positive reception that Dreamworks 'How to train your Dragon' received (five weeks of first place in the box office, cool? yes), a few muttered complaints on the cancelation of Pixar's film 'Newt', a mildly interesting conversation on the cut funds for the fourth 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film, and so on.... school is at an end, and with it comes finals. the bittersweet end.

Revisiting
the good days is a good thing. on that note, i would like to resurface some of the greatest cartoons in history of animation (not the Best, mind you, but certainly up there in quality). here is the unforgettable, Yakko, Wacko, and Dot in the one, the only, Animaniacs!!!!
and of course the greatness of Pinky and the Brain!
and just for good measure, we shall revisit the epic-ness that is Freakazoid!
oh yeah... thats good stuff

Lacma
So, it has been a busy week for me; with Easter, catching up on homework, figuring out decisions for college, my mothers birthday, and my sister coming home for spring break, i find myself feeling slightly overwhelmed. The other day, however, i had to opportunity to visit the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art). Pretty much, it was a fantastic experience made even better by wonderful company, high speed winds, a stormy morning, and an enormous old fashioned cemetery. But don't take my word for it, here are some pictures...
also, here is some more fanart from HTTYD

Dragon
Felt like doing another post. Also, i felt the need to express the sheer joy i felt after watching Dreamworks "How to Train Your Dragon". Pretty much, it was amazing; i usually watch Dreamworks animated films with a slight shadow of doubt (i mean, they are no Pixar), considering that several of their films have been severely lacking in quality. Now, i love their films just as much as the next person, but it is easy to tell when a movie is out for money, and when it is a true work of heart. Take for example Kung Fu Panda, The Prince of Egypt, Madagascar and El Dorado.... those were works of heart. On the other hand Shrek 3, Bee Movie, and Monsters V.S Aliens felt more like money makers then anything else.
"How to Train Your Dragon" was fantastic. Good story, characters, development, animation, emotion, moral, everything! Truly an enjoyable film... Check it out!
Also, if you are hoping to see a really amazing example of Visual Effects, check out Tim Burtons Alice in Wonderland. the story is slightly lacking, but it truly is beautiful!
Aaannd, for future viewing, these look pretty great.

Traditional!
so, its been a really long time and i realize that i should probably post something i have drawn traditionally (like i promised)..... well, here ya go.

i did several trading cards of this sort, the theme was different cultures around the world

this was a piece i completed for my analysis of form class (drapery study)

this is a piece that i have been working on consecutively for the past few days, (its propaganda)
the entire thing is being colored with Faber Castell professional pitt artist pens. when it is done, i will scan in the whole thing.

scanner
it is time to start scanning my stuff. sometimes i think that simply doing everything off of my tablet is sufficient enough, but then i realize that most of my skill lies within me doing traditional work. next post, there will be scanned stuff.
